Grenz is by far the best. I made the mistake of having another company based out of Watertown come out for service. They said my heat exchanger was bad and I needed a new furnace because it wasn't under warranty. Called Grenz and found out it actually was under warranty so i had him come out. Extensive testing revealed that it was not the heat exchanger after all. Simple part replacement saved me thousands of dollars. From now on I will be making only one call to Grenz.

Our two furnaces had a catastophic fail late on Christmas Eve and we needed emergency service. Jim Grenz made a service call to our home early on Christmas Day and was able to install new furnaces on the day after Christmas. Jim was extremely responsive and understanding to our emergency call. Grenz service was extemely responsive and they went above and beyond to handle our emergency. I initially had Grenz Service come into my condo to check my fireplace and clean the glass. They had done such a great job I inquired about heating and air conditioning. After review and a few quotes/consultations, I chose Grenz Service to install a new Trane furnace and AC. Jim was extremely helpful in assessing our homes heating and cooling needs, offering options, and assisting in selecting a system that best matched the requirements at a reasonable cost. Jim was very detailed with explaining the differences in models and more importantly his installation plan. My understanding is the installation is just as important as selecting the brand and model! I called Grenz Service Co. to my condo 4years ago to clean & get my natural gas fireplace working again. Jim G. was very thorough and even showed me how to relight pilot light if the flame went out again.Was so impressed with the professionalism that I had Grenz install a new furnace this Fall.Jim Jr and Conner worked so professionally. Put drop cloths down on my two flights of stairs up to loft and removed old 25 year old furnace and installed new Trane furnace in less than 6 hours. They had to work in a very small space and I was totally impressed!!!I will refer all my friends to Grenz Service Company because I am very happy with my new furnace!!!Thank you very much Jim Jr and Conner and Zack the electrician for a job well done!!!

July 2025: recent update - I continue to be loyal to this company because not only is Jim Jr the best but the apprentices they train up are also trustworthy and great. I did an annual check up and received five star service again from Connor (and another young man whom I’m afraid I am blanking his name). It’s a great feeling to be able to trust that no matter who is sent from Grenz, that you will get the same quality experience every time.2023: I feel like I would trust Jim Jr. with my life, such is the level of care and exceptional service he and his team provide. When it comes to potential fire risk or refrigerant leak, I feel confident to sleep soundly again after Jim has reviewed and repaired any issues.In purchasing my condo, I took ownership of my first "Magic Pack" heat/AC combo unit, which is a bit intimidating for a new home owner. I have had Jim Jr over for 2 separate issues and each visit he took the time and utmost care to resolve those problems with the AC, and didn't leave until he was satisfied that everything was tested and running properly.Jim Jr. offers a caliper of service we rarely see these days; he willingly shares his vast knowledge to help educate us on what is "normal" and what to look out for with this unique HVAC system. We were having an issue with our furnace fan and Jim Jr was able to come take a look at it within a few hours (it was a non-emergency call). He checked to make sure it wasn't a more simple/cheaper option before attempting replacing the fan motor. He had brought the fan incase it was needed and finished within 30 minutes on the spot, and the cost was at the very low end of estimates found online, so pricing was great. On top of all this he was very personable and respectful, and took the time to explain everything to me, we couldn't be happier that we chose Grenz!

We had five contractors provide quotes for a complete furnace / AC / thermostat replacement. Pricewise, Grenz was squarely in the middle, even though they quoted a premium product. Jim walked us through the entire removal and instation process, including how and where they would relocate equipment, how to program the thermostat, and maintenance requirements. He made us extremely comfortable with both the equipment and their process. They arrived on time and cleaned-up thoroughly. Highly recommended.
